I saw my pdoc yesterday and he has reduced my medication cocktail - taken me off two meds. I've been having huge tremor issues (very embarrassing) and trouble with short-term memory. Now I'm only on four meds, much better than six.
Trouble is, I woke up at 3am and couldn't sleep again.
The flupenthixol I take as an anti-psychotic is a stimulant and it's now making me feel like my old self. Happy and energetic. It feels very good. And my tremors are not bothering me as much.
Now all I need to worry about is getting enough sleep.
Nevertheless, I love this up feeling. I should be able to accomplish a lot.

Susan: People have been telling me today how more animated I am. And Wes saw it right away too. Amazing what a little pill can do for you, eh?
Dear Marja,
It certainly is, isn't it? And it's a real relief when it works well, and you feel so much better.
Since neither you nor Mariposa can sleep, perhaps you can email each other at night?
Susan
Marja,
So glad you are getting some positive results so far from the meds change. Unfortunately I have had more negative than positive results from meds, but I do remember the feeling of hope when they would try something new...so much hope. I also remember the good feeling when going off of some of the meds (some withdrawal was nice, some was dreadful). It was so wonderful to feel, I mean just to 'feel' some things that I had not been able to feel for awhile, and wonderful to get some clear thinking too. May this change for you have only positive results. "Getting something done" is good medicine in itself, isn't it?

Thank you, Wendy. Unfortunately the good feelings have not stuck around. I'm still not off the roller coaster. Still happy I'm on less meds.
